Family Night for kindergarten through 3rd grade

THIS PROGRAM IS FULL!

Join us for a night of Halloween fun!

Family Night for children in kindergarten through third grade will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, October 14 in the Draughon Room (lower level of the library).

We will be reading “The Hairy Toe” and “The Soup Bone,” making a
pumpkin door hanger craft, playing Halloween JINGO and having
refreshments.

Reservations are required as space is limited. Please fill out the form below or call 471-4140 to reserve a spot for your child.

First Family Night of the year for preschoolers!

For Children

Join us at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, October 7 for the first family night of the year for our preschoolers (age 2-5). We will be reading In the Middle of Fall and The Very Busy Squirrel, followed by creating a sorting color craft, making an I Spy fall bottle, singing, and enjoying refreshments.

Special programs set for month of June

For Children

The library will be hosting a series of programs on Mondays in June. These programs support our Summer Reading theme, “A Universe of Stories.”

On Monday, June 3, the St. Louis Science Center will bring the Unisphere to the library. The Unisphere will replicate the night sky and explain the lore behind the naming of the constellations. This program will be held from 2:00-3:30 p.m. in the Draughon Room (lower level of the library).

On Monday, June 10, the Southeast Explorer bus returns with an exhibit commemorating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. After touring the Explorer bus, children will be able to visit the Space Exploration room on the main level of the library. The Explorer bus will be here from 2:00-3:30 p.m. in the west parking lot of the library.

On Monday, June 17, we will host “Flights of Fancy” with Jay & Leslie. Jay and Leslie launch into summer reading with juggling, stories, orbits, and more bits to tickle your funny bone. The fun will be flying, and Goldilocks will be searching for a planet that is “just right.” Jay & Leslie will be presenting at 12:30 p.m. in the Draughon Room (lower level of the library).

On Monday, June 24, get ready for Chef Bananas! Chef Bananas will cook up a recipe that is out of this world. The presentation includes hot dogs, fire, carrots, frogs, cupcakes, balloons, and a load of BANANAS! His “Out of this World” program will put you on the hunt for cookbooks, magic books, and many more! This program will be presented at 12:30 p.m. in the Draughon Room (lower level of the library).

Weekly Summer Reading programming begins July 1

For Children

After our series of special programming during the month of June, weekly summer reading programming begins on Monday, July 1, following the schedule below:

Entering Kindergarten-second grade — Mondays at 1:30 p.m.
Entering third-fifth grade — Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m.
Ages 2-5 — Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.
Entering sixth-twelfth grade — Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m.

We will end the summer with our annual Summer Reading Party on July 29.

No reservations are required to attend any summer reading event; children can attend 1 event or all, and have a great time!

Mother-Daughter Tea set for May 5

THIS EVENT IS FULL!!

Girls in second-fifth grades, along with their mothers, are invited to the annual Mother-Daughter Tea at the library. The tea will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, May 5 in the Draughon Room (lower level) of the library.

Come join us for a lovely afternoon tea at the library!

Meet Blaire Wilson, American Girl’s 2019 Girl of the year! Chef. Decorator. Chicken wrangler. Blaire does it all at her family’s restaurant, inn, and farm.

We will be reading about Blaire, taking tea and refreshments, making a planter, and playing an American Girl game.

Family Night for K-3 to be held April 8

THIS EVENT IS FULL! — Family Night for children in kindergarten through third grade will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 8. This is the final family night for this school year.

We will be reading the book Ada Twist, Scientist! and Oh No! or, How My Science Project Destroyed the World, performing science experiments, and enjoying refreshments.

Preschool Family Night set for April 1

Our final Family Nights of the school year are being held during the month of April. Family Night for preschoolers (ages 2-5) will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 1, in the Draughon Room (lower level of the library).

We will be reading Little White Rabbit and It’s Not Easy Being a Bunny. We will also be doing flannel boards, singing, creating bunny and egg crafts, and enjoying refreshments.

The March Family night for kindergarten through third grade will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 11 in the Draughon Room (lower level of the library).

We will be reading the books Sausages and The Full Belly Bowl, making a bowl with clay, and enjoying refreshments.

February Family Night for preschoolers set

Our Preschool Family Night for February will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, February 4, in the Draughon Room (lower level) of the library.

Come join us for Valentine fun at the library. We will be reading Mouse’s First Valentine and Plant a Kiss. We also be making Valentine crafts, reading flannel board stories, singing songs and enjoying refreshments!
