Library adds messaging service for holds notifications

The Sikeston Public Library, through its membership in Missouri Evergreen Consortium, is live on MessageBee SMS through a partnership with Unique Management Services and Equinox Open Library Initiative

“We were thrilled to learn about Equinox’s partnership with Unique Management Services to help ensure more reliable patron notifications,” said Ron Eifert, library director. “Equinox and Unique Management Services have a long history of great support for libraries and MessageBee is already proving to be a game changer for informing and staying engaged with our community.”

The MesesageBee service manages important library notifications sent via text message. “In the past, cellular carriers have de-prioritized these notifications, resulting in patrons not receiving the messages that they have books waiting for them,” Eifert said. “MessageBee is addressing that issue. In addition, we are able to send notifications about expiring library accounts to avoid interruptions in service, along with notifications about pending due dates and overdue materials.”

“We are pleased to partner with Unique Management Services to provide MessageBee SMS to libraries,” said Rogan Hamby, Data and Project Manager at Equinox. “When libraries can connect easily with patrons in the format they prefer, it improves their experience. We are happy to support MessageBee within the Missouri Evergreen Consortium.”
