The library is a member of a
consortium named MoLib2Go (Missouri
Libraries to Go) with content provided by Overdrive. This consortium provides downloadable
contents for a library’s patrons for a yearly fee paid by the library. There is no direct charge to a library patron to use this service.
devices are compatible with the Overdrive system. E-book readers
that are compatible include the Kindle, Nook, iPad, Sony Reader,
Kobo E-reader, and Pandigital Novel. Compatible audio players include
the iPod, i-Phone and Microsoft Zune, Coby, Creative, Memorex, Philips, Samsung, SanDisk, and Sony Walkman. Click here to see if your audio player is compatible.
Some things to keep in mind:
patrons will need to have personally identifiable information provided
by the library to access the MoLib2Go site. Visit the library
during operating hours to pick up this information. Once a patron
has this information, they may download books from home, or by using the
wireless signal in the library.
- Check-out limits for downloadable materials are
set by the consortium.
- Titles may be checked out for 7 days, 14 days, or 21 days
(patron’s choice). If
the item is not on hold for another patron
in the consortium, it can be checked out again to the same patron, or a
renewal request can be placed for when the book is available.
- Each patron is limited to seven checkouts at any
given time, and each patron is limited to seven items on hold at a time. To place material on hold, patrons click on
the item’s title, select the format desired, and click the “place a hold”
- Patrons are allowed to have unlimited titles on
a wish list, which can be moved to a holds list as space becomes available.
- Because of the numbers of patrons served by the
consortium, waiting time for reserve books can range from a day to a month or
more. Consortium leadership continually assesses demand for the most
popular books and purchases additional copies when needed.
- An additional software download is needed for
some devices. Check the MoLib2Go website for device compatibility (the area circled in blue to the right) and additional software required (the area circled in red).
staff will be happy to guide you through the process of setting up your
device for downloads. We have a "no-touch" policy for personal
devices, so we cannot complete this process for you, but we can guide
you through any steps that are problematic.
same policies that govern the checkout of physical materials from the
Sikeston Public library will also affect electronic check-outs. Any
library account with excessive fines, or a card that has been revoked
for any reason, will not be allowed to download materials.
